IPTV

According to The Sunday Telegraph, mobile operator Orange is planning to launch an internet protocol television (IPTV) service in the UK in the third quarter of 2007.

The company is also developing a technology which will allow subscribers to transfer content between their PC, TV and mobile phone - effectively turning a mobile phone into a remote control and TV screen.

Orange users, who subscribe to a joint TV, mobile and broadband package, will be able to use an Orange version of the Sky+ remote record system and Slingbox mobile software.

Customers will be able to programme their video recorders while on the move and transfer content stored on a PC, or TV channels to their mobile phone screens. The service will be rolled out over a 2-year period.

Orange is also developing a search facility that will allow users to input a key word, and find relevant articles, music, photos and videos.
