Google has announced that it’s Google Adsense contextual advertising program now offers ads in a rounded corner box.

Previously, ads were served up as squares or rectangles with sharp angular corners. However, now ads can be selected to have rounded corners.

The aim is to allow Google Adsense ads to blend in more suitably with websites which feature rounded corner boxes as an integral part of their design.

However, there remains the warning that Google Adsense works best to encourage clickthroughs the more indistinguishable the ads are to the site content, then the more likely they will be clicked, rather than ignored as ads.

Therefore if a website already uses rounded corners in their design, the new feature may work well in terms of integration - but for websites already working on a square corner design, the ads may draw too much attention to themselves and not work so well.
