Asia remains the strongest importer of spam emails to the internet, with China rapidly catching up to the USA as the leading nation of spammers.

The information comes from security company Sophos, who released figures from a study showing where spam was sent from.

Legislation within the USA has helped knock it down from being the source of 50% to 25% of all wordlwide spam, but the trend continues strong in Asia.

Although the UK only sends out around 1.9% of all spam, Europe as a whole makes up almost a quarter of all spam emails sent, and is increasingly more likely to be a source of spam.

Overall tables from Sophos are as follows:

By country:

  1. United States
  2. China (incl Hong Kong)
  3. South Korea
  4. France
  5. Poland
  6. Spain
  7. Germany
  8. Brazil
  9. Japan
  10. United Kingdom
  11. Netherlands
  12. Taiwan

By continent:

  1. Asia
  2. North America
  3. Europe
  4. South America
  5. Australasia
  6. Africa

Still, on the plus side, thanks to taking up a range of offers presented to myself via email spam, I now have a huge penis, a wonderful pair of breasts, loads of cheap software, am immensely healthy, and won the lottery countless times.
