New research has revealed that 78% of the UK’s business leaders believe that IT plays a very important or vital role to their business.

The ‘IQ of the British Network‘ study by Cisco, which surveyed 600 UK businesses and IT directors, also found that 10% see their IT network as merely a ’static pipe for data’.

The research found a positive correlation between business growth and use of technology.

Companies with revenue growth of over 15% were seven times more likely to have Wi-Fi networked offices and 50% more likely to rate their IT network as a vital strategic asset.

Working from home was found to be a popular option for technology staff, but although business managers’ main concern was finding and retaining skilled staff, 47% said their company did not provide this option.

The research revealed that only 38% allowed staff to work remotely or from home under certain circumstances.
