Dixons loses name to Currys

Comet

DSG International, which owns both Dixons and Currys, has decided that Dixons must now become Currys.

Dixons will still exist - but only as an online retailer, with the high street Dixons stores becoming Currys retail outlets.

At this point it’s worth underlining that online sales are booming, while high street sales remain weak.

Not only is buying online a lot easier for consumers than going out, strong distance selling regulations provide additional shopper protections not present on the high street.

Although DSG may well be taking Dixons off the high street, we may yet find Dixons growing as the stronger brand.

EDITOR NOTE: An error in the original piece had Comet listed instead of Currys - our apologies for the error.
