Google is rumoured to be ready to release mail migration to Google Apps this week - in order to help encourage companies to integrate more of their data over to Google’s servers for storage.

Email clients which support an IMAP interface will be able to use this new feature, which will then allow a user’s emails to be imported into a Gmail, where they will be organised into conversational threads.

Other new features planned with this launch include a shared address book, bigger GMail attachment size, and multi-user chat.

However, Google has already seen privacy concerns raised in the EU and other countries about it’s degree of data retention and the processing of personal behavioural information from this.

Even still, Google simply remains a leader in user data processing among the larger ISP’s, who are also this week coming under scrutiny for their own privacy practices.
