Two people have been cautioned for using wi-fi broadband internet connections without permission, in what are believed to be the first cases of wifi theft in the UK.

A man, spotted using a laptop while parked in his car outside a house in Redditch, was arrested on Saturday.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested following a similar incident in Redditch, earlier this month.

The two people have both been cautioned for dishonestly obtaining electronic communications services with intent to avoid payment.

West Mercia Police are advising wireless broadband users to be vigilant regarding their own broadband connections. Unsecured internet connections could be used for unlawful purposes by unauthorised users and should be configured to stop unauthorised users accessing them.
