Google testing AdSense for YouTube
Google is believed to be beta testing AdSense ads embedded into YouTube video players.

The technology would allow publishers to embed YouTube clips in their websites and generate revenue via AdSense. An AdSense unit would appear above the clip.

The ads will only be delivered on custom players and can be targeted by category or contextually. The players can also be customised to blend with the site branding.

As the ads are show outside the video window, the service should not intrude on viewing the clip.

Google has signed up premium content providers for the service, avoiding the possibility of ads being attached to copyrighted content.

According to the YouTube advice page for publishers, AdSense for YouTube ads will “Bring users to your site more often and keep them there longer with highly revelant, frequently refreshed video from popular content providers.”
