Seagate Technology LLC will demonstrate an innovative, wireless portable drive at the DEMO technology show in California.

The mini hard-disk - named D.A.V.E. (digital audio-video experience) - can store up to 30GB of files downloaded over cell phone networks using either Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB connectivity. It measures just 1.8″.

A mobile phone or a computer can scan through the drive for a favourite image or tune. Seagate expects Dave’s storage capabilities to help turn cell-phone networks into sources of music and other advanced content.

The drive has a built-in 10-hour battery and is built for rugged use.

Dave is expected to be available this summer and a 10-gigabyte version is expected to retail for around $150 in the US.
